Saint Brendan's Voyage

The voyage
was a search for
their Selves in God
in the geography of discovery
in the early north sea..
These hardy Selves
may have preceded the 
Vikings of history
by some five hundred years..

Each of us searches for
Peace and Happiness
and most of us
search in our geography
for the thing of happiness..
The thing of happiness
soon disappoints and we
search further our geography
for a thing more lasting..
Hopefully discovering one day
our geography does not
locate our happiness..

Saint Brendan and his brothers
were immersed in geography
but they knew their search
was within themselves and their
Selves were not separate
but made of that for which
they had already found..
