Freedom and power
Jesus' primary teaching for humanity entails recognition by each of us of our real Identity: a connection with our Source. This recognition transcends all religion, including, of course, Christianity. However, there has been a tragic attachment by some, claiming to be Christians, with the power of the state. This attachment is centuries-old, and leads to a clouding of the available freedom that Jesus pointed to in his primary teaching. Dobson is simply a latter day manifestation of someone with this attachment. What is the value of Jesus' teaching of Identity, and the associated freedom, for Dr. Dobson, and for many others? A question for our time...
The above in response to Dr. Dobson's report (linked) on his visit to the southern border:

Forgiveness
Forgiveness
the simplicity
of drawing attention
to that which lies
between the lines
and words of story
is forgiveness..
nothing more..
the mind is inept
however frantic its
search..as story reigns..
while forgiveness glows

Thirst...Mary Oliver
"Thirst" by Mary Oliver
Another morning and I wake with thirst
for the goodness I do not have. I walk
out to the pond and all the way God has
given us such beautiful lessons. Oh Lord,
I was never a quick scholar but sulked
and hunched over my books past the hour
and the bell; grant me, in your mercy,
a little more time. Love for the earth
and love for you are having such a long
conversation in my heart. Who knows what
will finally happen or where I will be sent,
yet already I have given a great many things
away, expecting to be told to pack nothing,
except the prayers which, with this thirst,
I am slowy learning.

"Suffering is to the mind what pain is to the body. When you put your hand in the fire, you experience pain. The pain is not a mistake, it’s not something that’s wrong. The pain is the intelligence of the body, telling you: take your hand out of the fire. So pain is working on behalf of your wellbeing. Suffering is exactly the same at the level of the mind. It is cooperating with your desire for happiness. It’s telling you, you’ve got your hand in the fire. In this case suffering is telling you: You have mistaken yourself for a seperate limited awareness. Take a look. That’s what suffering is. It’s a wakeup call. It’s saying: You have mistaken yourself for an object, a limited self. Have another look!"
~~Rupert Spira
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Alpha and Omega
Alpha and Omega
beginnings
and endings
mark our momentary
thoughts and perceptions..
passing through
we observe these
temporary visitations..
but who among us
asks of the medium
for these passages.?
whatever the medium
it seems to be
quietly expressing
what is permanent..
and..
and..
noticing our medium
yields eternal benefit:
experiencing ourselves
as peace and grace...
Beauty cannot be seen, but all perceptions shine with it. Love cannot be felt, but all feelings are made of it. Truth cannot be known, but all thoughts express it.

burning to ashes
all that lingers
too long
cluttering our
knowing of
who we are...

The Daily Quote from Rupert Spira, 19th June 2019:
Just as one sun is reflected in numerous puddles, each showing a separate image of the same sun, so the unlimited and ever-present light of pure Knowing is reflected in seven billion minds as the feeling ‘I am’, giving rise to the appearance of seven billion selves.

Indifference
Indifference
First we identify thoughts
as thoughts..perceptions as
perceptions..
we observe these experiences
as though from a distance
and then from no distance..noting
with interest and indifference
the temporary shaping of ourself..
Thereby..we recognize ourselves
as constant meditators
whether in quiet or turmoil..
Not what
we do this morning
again on the morrow..

Creation happens
Creation happens

Before
the interruptions

from its glowing
seamlessness..

we see
words as engines
of creation..

To have an opinion that anybody is a separate self is to perceive from the point of view of an illusory separate self.

Journeys..June, 2019
It seems there are many journeys...
There are journeys in which we observe the
world from conventional windows of body and mind.
There is a unique journey which involves recognition
that my old belief in a separate and independent
body and mind does not define what I am. Also..
to discover that this belief is the root of my suffering.
This unique journey, the Direct Path, belongs to
to discover that this belief is the root of my suffering.
This unique journey, the Direct Path, belongs to
the experience of Non-Duality, with two apparent
paths: Inward and Outward. Inwardly,
we recognize our real Home and True Nature.
Outwardly, we "return" to the world for
realignment and an important

"I’ve gained deeper understanding listening to Rupert Spira than I have from any other exponent of modern spirituality. Reality is sending us a message we desperately need to hear, and at this moment no messenger surpasses Spira and the transformative words in his essays."
~ Deepak Chopra
"Honestly, connect with your own experience of awareness itself. It is beyond poetry. Don't merely connect with a teacher's beautiful and poetic claim that you are in truth awareness itself, as it is only poetry. Yes, it's fine that way, but it's not enough. Don't crave to see your teacher. See yourself."

In her Forward, The Rev. Canon Marianne Wells Borg,
(wife of the late Marcus Borg) writes that it is time for a
new aggiornamento, or a "bringing up to date" issues
of prayer, belief, the Bible, morality, the problem of evil,
and the mission of the church--issues which underly
and organize Tom's timely book. He is, in short,
defining a new paradigm for religion and spirituality
in our era.

my Amazon review....in progress
This is a most important piece of writing!
More than a book on religion, Tom Stella invites the
reader to direct their attention inward, and discover
something precious..amazingly, something which has
always been available.
It is Experiential!

If you can find what is offered in Tom's writings
(this is one of four books which are available on Amazon,
and elsewhere) in your religion, you are indeed fortunate.
You may also be a rarity.

My interest in things spiritual is currently informed by
the teachings of Non-Duality, particularly those teachings
which have been translated from Eastern sources into
the languages of the West. I also call myself a Christian,
but use that label in a way that may not be well aligned
with some of the beliefs of mainline Christianity. I find
much congruence with Tom's writings.

In matters of religion and spirituality, it seems that
we have a choice in adhering to beliefs, or to experience.
If we choose the path of experience, there is an encounter
with that which is beyond belief, Beyond Religion--the
perennial source of all religion, and the essence of our
own spiritual identity.

Hopefully, religions and individuals will be more and
more as the prodigal, recognizing at last, their source
or home. In the view of many careful observers, this
recognition will be best achieved via a path of
experience. Finding God Beyond Religion gifts us
with A Guide for such a path...!
